What is AMS:Connect?

AMS:Connect is a space to allow the community of Bremen to play and create in English. We are actors, improvisers, writers, dancers, poets and artists who use the English language as a way to connect, explore and play.

The definition of the word Connect:
1) to bring together for a common purpose or action
2) to come together to form a whole
3) to place or establish in relationship

Why AMS:Connect?

We believe when we are better connected to ourselves and to each other, our community reaches a higher level of freedom and functionality; when we are better connected, we are better moms, dads, friends, sisters, brothers, co-workers and artists.

How does AMS:Connect work?

Through acting, writing, and Improv classes, guest-workshops, yoga and meditation classes, productions and staged-readings, we encourage a deeper connection to ourselves and to each other.

What’s happening:

  • Upcoming Performances: Grounded, by George Brandt. October 27th, 28th and 29th. Grounded tells the story of an American F16 fighter pilot whose unexpected pregnancy ends her career in the sky. Repurposed to flying remote-controlled drones in the Middle East from a trailer, the Pilot struggles through hunting terrorists by day and being a wife and mother by night. A tour de force play for one actress, Grounded targets our assumptions about war, family, and the power of storytelling.

  • Auditions: Open auditions for our Next Staged Reading: The Laramie Project is a play by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project. Please email Connect@ams.theater.de to audition or join our Facebook group for the latest news and casting calls: https://www.facebook.com/group

  • Upcoming Workshops: Shake 38! In partnership with Bremen Shakespeare Company, we will be workshopping and performing YOUR interpretation of all 38 of the Bard’s plays. That’s right. All 38 plays in one weekend. Sound intriguing? Brush up your Shakespeare and email Connect@ams.theater.de to find out more!

  • Upcoming Classes: The Trigger Approach, a new way to learn your lines without memorizing them. Take an acting class with us! Email: Connect@ams.theater.de

  • Cake and Conflict: AMS:Connect tackles difficult issues head-on. In a public setting, we read plays that talk about war, sexuality, hatred, difficult relationships, religion, discrimination and everything taboo. After the play reading, we discuss these lovely topics with a slice of cake and a spot of tea. Civility at it’s highest! So bring your opinions and add a dash of sugar. As our beloved Mary Poppins says, “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.”   Our next Staged Reading is:
  • The Laramie Project.  Saturday July 1st, 20:00. The Laramie Project is a play by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project about the reaction to the 1998 murder of University of Wyoming gay student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. The murder was denounced as a hate crime and brought attention to the lack of hate crime laws in various stages within the US.The play draws on hundreds of interviews conducted by the theatre company with inhabitants of the town, company members’ own journal entries, and published news reports. It is divided into three acts, and eight actors portray more than sixty characters in a series of short scenes.
  • Yoga and Meditation Classes: Every Tuesday and Friday. Email Yoga@ams-theater.de for times.
