Johnna Scrabis/Sean Casey – The Monoscene
Wednesday, December 11
45€ (35€ for AMS!-Members)
This workshop is all about the monoscene (a scene that takes place in a single location in a single span of time, with no external edits of any kind). We’ll work on building interesting characters, labeling and gifting your scene partner(s), and exploring. This workshop will help you create strong characters and strong POV that allow you to play fully developed characters.
Johnna Scrabis is a writer, Brooklyn-based comedian, Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCB) teacher, and UCB weekend team performer on GOAT. She also improvises on the weekly show Teacher Feature. In addition to performing, Johnna has taught and developed improv workshops for universities, corporations like Huffington Post and J.P. Morgan, and people who just love improv cause it’s fun. She also teaches at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, the home of Method Acting. When she’s not improvising, Johnna is writing (you can find some of her work on CollegeHumor), working on a production with her theater company Hot Metal Arts Collective, or exploring haunted places.
Sean Casey is an actor and writer based in Brooklyn, New York. He improvises with his team GOAT at the Upright Citizens Brigade theater each and every Saturday night. He’s been on Orange is the New Black (Netflix), The President Show (Comedy Central), and hundreds of home videos (parents’ VHS). Sean is also an improv teacher at UCB and has directed several sketch shows in New York.
