Stefan Pagels Andersen
How to make improv easy
Sunday, March 8
11am – 14pm
The easiest way to improvise it to speak from a place of depth. This workshop teaches you how easy it can be to connect with your scene partner on positive emotions.
We‘ll be working on heavily agreeing, building together and getting inspired by our partners.
This workshop is very inspired by Stefan‘s work together with Jason Shotts from iO Chicago, auditing his workshops for more than 6 weeks.
Stefan Pagels Andersen is the Co-founder and Artistic director of ICC Theatre – Improv Comedy Copenhagen, the biggest improv troupe in Denmark and one of the most successful improv schools in Europe. He‘s also the founder of the Copenhagen International Improv Festival (#CIIF) which will celebrate its 5th edition this year.
Stefan has been acting professionally since he was 12 (+20 years!) performed in more than 8 Danish Feature films, several shorts and played theatre at Betty Nansen and The Royal Danish Theater. He’s done improv professionally since 2009. He was at iO Chicago in 2013 taking their world-recognized training programme. Due to the first Festival’s success, he was invited back to the iO theatre to shadow teach some of the world’s best instructors by iO founder Charna Halpern and learn how to teach the style of iO as the first European ever. He was lucky enough to live at Charna‘s house with her for 2 months and learn so much about improv from her, while walking her dogs. In total he has taken the iO summer programme 3 times. And shadowed the Harold intensive workshop 12 times.
He’s performed at the iO Theater in The Armando Diaz Theatrical Experience & Hootenanny (Chicago’s longest-running improv show) Besides performed with some of Chicago‘s best improvisers, in fall 2014 he travelled around more than 12 cities in Europe with iO performers Lyndsay Hailey, Tara DeFrancisco and Rance Rizzutto, and further 4 cities with the world’s best improv performers TJ and Dave – shadowing their classes and doing shows.
